Leigh McRae is a 30 year veteran of the music industry. A singer, actor, songwriter, vocal coach and recording artist. Leigh maintains that performing the role of Jean Valjean in Les Misérables in 1994 is the highlight of his career so far.
Leigh's career commenced in the late 1970's in a succession of original bands performing his own material around the many clubs and pubs of Sydney and other parts of Australia. In the 1980's he became a sought after session singer for various television commercials and radio jingles and commenced performing on a regular basis on television shows such as The Bert Newton Show, Midday with Ray Martin, and the Afternoon Show.
As a voice coach Leigh has trained winners and finalists of hugely successful talent shows including Australian Idol, Popstars and The Voice, and has conducted vocal workshops all over the world.
Leigh has trained many well-known celebrities from such diverse areas as music, sport, as well as television actors and public speakers. Actress and singer Tammin Sursok is just one of Leigh's clients that has enjoyed international success appearing in “Hannah Montana”, “ The Young and the Restless” and is currently filming the final season of ABC's “Pretty Little Liars” in the US.
Perhaps most notable is Leigh's training as a voice coach in Los Angeles alongside the renowned Seth Riggs, Michael Jacksons’ personal voice coach for 28 years. Leigh studied and was an associate teacher of Seth Riggs for 14 years. Part of Leigh’s training was to observed many celebrities taking lessons either in person or over the telephone. In addition to this training Leigh taught at the Summer School in Los Angeles, which often included attending Michael Jacksons’ Neverland Ranch.
Leigh is the only non US citizen to be a member of the teaching faculty of the prestigious Broadway Theatre Program.
Leigh's Vocal Mastery Program is now sold in more than fourteen countries. Leigh lives with his family in Sydney, Australia and has recently published his debut title "These Things I'm Telling You", a collection of insightful true stories, reflections and life lessons drawn from his remarkable teachings and experiences.
